Matt McConnell, Sculptor

Matt McConnell is a sculptor and designer who grew up in Charlotte. In 1990, he moved to Raleigh to attend NC State University, graduating with degrees in Architecture and Industrial Design. From childhood he has been fascinated with geometry and natural form created with repeated systems. Capturing and expressing the energy of time, motion, and invisible forces such as wind and gravity are a consistent focus of his work. Using repetition and transformation is a common element as well, where the rhythm and flow of the elements intertwine to create truly three dimensional form. Mixing these with a passion for exploring new materials and fabrication systems has produced a deep portfolio of widely varied projects. His commissioned work includes residential, commercial, and public artwork and functional elements, often created in dialogue with clients to allow a shared experience in the creation of the pieces. https://www.mattmcconnell.com/
