Emily Ranii, Artistic Director

Emily Ranii is Artistic Director of Wheelock Family Theatre at Boston University, Academic Program Head of BU’s Summer Theatre Institute, and Lecturer for BU’s Opera Institute. In the Triangle, she has directed The Normal Heart, Heisenberg, Romeo and Juliet, and more for Burning Coal Theatre Company; 9 Parts of Desire for Playmakers PRC2 Series; Eurydice, A Child’s Christmas in Wales, and a host of 10-minute plays for 10By10 Festival at ArtsCenter Stage, where she was Artistic Director from 2008-2010. Emily has also directed for New Repertory Theatre, Bridge Repertory Theatre Company/Playhouse Creatures Theatre Company, Cornell University, and Boston University. She holds a B.A. from Cornell University and an M.F.A in Directing from Boston University, but grew up studying theatre at Hunter, Ligon, and Enloe in Raleigh; Raleigh Little Theatre; NC Governor’s School; StreetSigns Center for Literature and Performance; and Burning Coal.
